  1. I have a Dream that one day the poor will no longer be poor. That children will no longer have to pick food out of the garbage or walk home barefoot. I have a dream that one day people will realize that material objects are unimportant and realize how fortunate they are for what they do have. I have a dream that those people will get more joy from putting their money towards other people rather than themselves. That they will stop wasting their money on pointless object and put their money towards the less fortunate, So that one day little girls and boys across the world will be able to enjoy a warm meal, wear a different outfit to school each day, be able to wash their bodies with warm water and dry off will clean towels. I have a dream that one day people will walk around with smiles across their faces knowing that they are the reason why someone else is walking around with one on theirs.

  2. I have a dream that one day students in China can change major freely instead of sticking to a major that they don’t really like. They should not spend their life learning and working on something they hate only because they made a bad choice when they were 18.
I have a dream that one day schools are ruled by teachers and students instead of government officials who know little about education, and that truth and knowledge shall be respected more than power and money.
I have a dream that one day law students and journalism students can be reading updated materials instead of textbooks of twenty years ago, and that science students can have enough resources to do experiments.
I have a dream that one day my children can grow up in their hometown and be proud of the education they get. When they learn how modern universities in China developed, they would be glad that the dream of generations of Chinese people for a well-developed education system has come true.

  3. I have a dream that people will realize the power they have to impact another persons world. I have a dream that all people will want to help others with that power. They will strive to use that power to prevent hunger, create peace, help the poor, prevent suicides, and more. I have a dream that people will use that power to convince other people to do the same. I have a dream that there will be no loneliness. That people will go out of there way to make someone’s day just a little better. I have a dream that people will go up to someone struggling, a stranger, and want to help them. That there will be no more stories of people committing suicides and jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge because not one person smiled or said hello to them. I have a dream that people will go out of their way to make someone happy, for no other reason than to make them happy. I have a dream that people will find happiness in making others happy. I have a dream.

  4. Being educated is where tolerance and open mindedness comes from. Education does not just come from the classroom, but from seeing the world and meeting the people in it. I have a dream that one day, people will be more willing and able to meet people, face to face, from all over the world and be willing to experience other cultures. This would allow people to be educated about many other types of people which would then result in people being more tolerant and open minded of those who’s views and lifestyles differ from their own. I believe that those who are not tolerant and who are closed minded are those who corrupt society.
I believe that with this education can also come a stronger sense of self, which allows one to shield himself from the intolerant and closed minded people who shoot him down. One who is educated will not listen to the school bully or the slander that another racial group is throwing his way because he will have been educated to know better.
I dream that worldly education will create a more tolerant and all around kinder place for everyone to live in.

  5. As students of Berkshire School we can all agree that we extremely privileged. Unfortunately, there are kids just like us who are nowhere near as lucky as us. Children all over Africa suffer from more problems that any of us can fathom. Change is overdue for the kids of Somalia.

I have a dream that one day kids like me wouldn’t have to live in fear of getting kidnapped to serve as child soldiers.

I have a dream that malaria wouldn’t wipe out lives of kids who go to school just like you and me.

    I have a dream today.

I have a dream that the infant mortality rate in Somalia would drop from the double digits.

I have a dream that one day the children of Somalia could simply have fresh drinking water.

The misfortunate kids of Somalia need our help. It is time for change.

  6. To the kids who never had a childhood, or were pushed to hard in their youth losing innocence growing up to fast, I have a dream. Do you remember having really nothing around you and using your imagination to create a game of your own? Just running around aimlessly with your friends? Everyone running under that colorful parachute in gym class? Maybe some don't and that's because some parents don't understand the importance for children to play, do stupid things, and learn from their experiences. When we would anxiously wait for santa on Christmas Eve night nearly having insomnia? Even sitting in his lap at a mall believing it was Santa? Even waking up Easter morning and going on the Easter egg hunt?
I have a dream that parents will let their children believe in these silly folktales and holiday heroes. Children wont believe in them forever so why take away that smile on a child's face seeing their eyes open so wide it seems like they're going to pop out.
I have a dream for kids to keep their innocence and youth for as long as possible because one day we will grow up and enter the real world. So why rush? Everyone has that child in them, it is something you never want to loose.

  7. Across the world men, women, and children are deprived of food. Whether its due to poverty or corruption, world hunger must come to an end. Whether it is a young child in the war torn nation of Sudan or a war veteran in the United States, it is our duty as the most powerful nation in the world to supply for those in need. I have a dream that one day, the world is hunger free. If the whole world can be fed for just one day, violence and corruption will diminish significantly. I have a dream that the United States can use it’s resources to put food on the plate of that starving child in Sudan, and the man or woman that risked their life for our nation.

  8. I have a dream that one day everyone in the world will be able to express their opinions freely. No one will be to afraid to speak up for what they stand for no matter where in the world they are from. I have a dream that one day people will be able to stand up for their rights, and not be prosecuted. I have a dream that there will be no such thing as corruption in government, or anywhere else. I have a dream that no one in the world will feel threatened for their opinions. I have a dream.

  9. I have a dream that one day teenagers and young adults will have the ability to contribute to large world issues. That high ranking officials in any specific occupation will trust the advise from an eighteen year old. I envision a world where the voices and thoughts of young adults like myself have the ability to be heard. To be taken seriously in their efforts to make the world a better place. Although teenagers and young adults do not have the years of experience, we see the world differently, which gives us unique perspectives. Different perspectives give the opportunity for new innovative ideas and ways to incorporate change for the grater good. I have a dream where young adults will change how we live are lives. Change how we think and act on a day-to-day basis. I believe the younger generations will transform the way we live, and my dream is on its way to becoming a reality.

  10. I have a dream that one day people will be able to travel the world without being constantly screened through airport security. Where the United States would regain its trust in its citizens and not treat everyone as if they were criminals or terrorists. In a perfect world, people would be able to walk straight to their designated gate and travel comfortably without the added tedious process of airport screening. People would once again be allowed to greet their friends and family upon arrival to their gates, an no longer have to miss their flight through waiting in long security lines. Additionally, people would not be discriminated by their race or background, and wouldn’t have to undergo additional screening based solely on their outer appearance. I believe that the United States should treat all of its citizen as equals, and thus should not make immediate assumptions based on one’s appearance.

  11. I have a dream that the government of the United States will start listening to its people and stop worrying about the rest of the world. Our government should focus solely on making sure that our citizens are healthy and cared for. People may be starving in other countries but that shouldn’t be our concern until every last citizen of the United States is taken care of. I’m tired of walking down the streets and seeing homeless people and then seeing our well fed politicians wearing designer suits debate whether or not to bomb and kill people in an attempt to show that killing people is wrong. I have a dream that the American people will stand up and hold our public officials accountable for their actions. It’s time that we focus on ourselves and take care of our people and let other countries take care of their people. If we took the money spent on foreign aid and used it to help Americans, we would not only be stronger as a nation, but we would be more capable of helping others in the long run because after all if we don’t take care of ourselves who will?

  12. I have a dream that one day all students will be privileged enough to receive as amazing of an education as we receive here every day. Why is it that a young individual must have their entire life’s’ success be determined simply by the financial means of their parents. We are all extremely fortunate to be able to attend a school that costs upwards of $50,000 per year, per student. Weather we are on 100% financial aid, or our parents pay full tuition, we all receive the exact same amazing education. However, not nearly everyone in the world receives anything remotely close to the privilege we do, of having the fortune of so many outstanding teachers. One day, I have a dream that every student will be educated as well as we are, every day, here Under the Mountain.

  13. I have a dream that we will stop global warming. This is the biggest issue in our lives and it does not get nearly the attention it should get. I have a dream that the human race will continue to prosper on planet earth. This dream is not possible unless we realize that we are destroying our own habitat. People do not want to believe it because it is a very scary topic. This problem has to be the primary focus of both science and governments around the world. Humans often take the gift of life for granted we must realize that if we want to continue to live we must save out planet and its natural recourses. With the technology we have today, we could save our planet. People must be willing to change their lives for the greater whole of the human race. This is a major problem that can be fixed if everyone is willing to help.

  14. Many children, adults, and especially teenagers commit suicide every day. Across the world, millions suffer from mental disorders, depression, anxiety, and other severe issues. I have a dream that one day these people receive help from a family member, friend, adult, or other. I have a dream, that these people will overcome many of their issues and understand the importance, purpose, and value to their lives. Adults should reach out to teenagers, children, and young adults. I have a dream the headlines will no longer read suicide rates, that I will no longer have to lose more friends and acquaintances to mental illness, and that people will have the resilience to overcome the struggles they face.

  15. Appearance is all that we, as humans, seem to care about in today’s world. A mindset that is programmed to automatically judge people based off of things like their: clothing, race, culture, looks, height, etc. This is why I have a dream that one day no one will be judged for their appearance, but for their personality. It is unfair to view others negatively because of their appearance. No one person should be ignored, and not given an opportunity to become successful because of their portrayal. There would be no such thing as racism, bullying, or any unfair treatment that people would receive because of their appearance. It is in our nature to be judgmental, but I try to be open to everyone judging only their personality. Humanity would be tranquil, if we could mold our brains to ignore appearances and only see the good qualities that everyone has to make the world a better place.

  16. I have a dream of a world where freedom isn’t a privilege but is a universal right that all humans have. Persecution of religious beliefs, the ethnicity of a person or their sexual orientation should be abolished from this world. Persecution leads to war and war is one of the most insulting things that humans have created. Unprovoked violence over religion never ends well just ask Hitler and the Confederates. No matter what someone’s beliefs are they should all be treated the same and thought of as people. Every person should be fortunate enough as I am to attend such a school like Berkshire. If a person is a good citizen and follows the law they should have just as equal of an opportunity to succeed as any other person no matter what their beliefs, ethnicity or sexual orientation are.

  17. I have a dream that women around the world will have equal rights. To have women in religious counties be able to walk around, with freedom and confidence that they will not get arrested for letting there hair out from under a veil. I have a dream that women can have the feeling of safety without pepper spray, guns, or any other sort of weapon for defense. I have a dream that women will be better respected in government; they will not be as harshly judged by how they look or think. I have a dream that girls that are being abused will have the courage to walk out of there situation without a great fear of what would happen to them. For girls that have no power to be able to put there foot down and say, that is enough.

  18. I have a dream that one day affirmative action will not be part of the college admission process, and higher education prices will be affordable for those who deserve and want to attend college. Where applicants will be looked at by the diversity of their life and experiences, not their ethnicity. For all future students who wish to have a deeper and more advanced education, but currently do not have fifty-four thousand dollars to spend on a better future. If a high school graduate is eager to learn, no matter what their financial situation is, they should have the opportunity to do so. I have a dream that all American universities will be made of students from different paths of life, and that this will be considered diverse and unique. I have a dream that all students will have equal opportunities to learn, prosper and ultimately achieve their ideal “American dream”.

  19. Everyday there are instances of hatred throughout the news, whether it be a robbery, murder, or even war, they are all results of the intolerance that people have. I believe that to make the world a better place people need to become more tolerant of each other no matter what their back ground is. This intolerance dates back to when slavery was brought into Europe when whites enslaved those with African decent. Governments even have this intolerance which is still shown today such as the civil war in Syria. This intolerance has been around for so long that it now seems like a norm to many people. People are so used to it now that they may not like someone who looks or acts different than what they consider normal. However, it is time for a change. With people becoming more tolerant of each other the world will suffer from less famine, crimes, and war. No matter what someones beliefs, ethnicity, or religion are people need to be tolerant of each other and still get along.

  20. I have a dream that one day, the United States of America, will join nearly every other country in making their drinking age 18. They say that consuming alcohol before your brain is fully developed (21 years old) affects your development, but back when my parents were in college, the drinking age was 18 years old, and they seemed to turn out just fine. In just about every other country in the world, beer is legal to drink at the age of 18, and in many countries it is legal at 16. The USA is one of the only country with a drinking age higher than 20, and in most other situations alcohol is completely illegal. I believe if kids learn how to drink at a younger age, the US will see extreme drops in binge drinking, and hospitalizations due to binge drinking. I have a dream that one day kids my age will be able to legally enjoy a cold brew at a bar.

  21. I have dream that one-day people will realize they are worth it. Millions of people worldwide commit suicide, because they have this false belief that they are not worth it, but for what? Is it because society tells them they’re not cool enough? Or is it that they feel like no one cares enough about their problems? I have a dream all humans realize they have a reason, a purpose for why they are on this earth. I pray every human realizes there full potential before it is to late. I have a dream that lives wont be cut short because someone believes they just aren’t worth it. Everyone makes a unique impact in this world in his or her own special way. Everyone has highs and lows in their lives, but its lows that make life real, that shape who we are. Getting past the lows is what makes life worth it, as it defines who we are. I have dream that one-day people will realize they are worth it.

  22. Who has never had impossible dreams? I sure have had many. When I was younger I dreamed about living on the moon, about being a professional soccer player, about having superpowers and so forth. However, I believe that once maturity starts to come around, our impossible dreams somehow take different turns. Maybe that happens because we start to better understand the environment we live in; maybe because we get a sense of what works and what does not.
A few years ago, I first realized that Brazil was not just the tropical paradise home for soccer and for the Amazon rainforest. I was able to see how corrupt our government is, how elite centered our society is, how isolated the northern states are, how money that should be spent in health, education, transportation suddenly disappears. But here is the question, how can things change? For me, the answer is awareness. There are so many Brazilians who are numb to what really happened and still happens in the national scene. However, I know that if every single one of the 201,032,714 people that live in Brazil were conscientious of their rights and duties as citizens, they would fight to fix what is wrong.
So then here is my dream. I dream that the World Cup of 2014 and the Olympic Games of 2016 bring awareness to my country. I dream that people can see how we lack a worthy health, educational and transportation system, how inefficient our government is. I dream that Brazilians start being more involved in politics. I dream that my generation and future ones at least try to make a change. I dream that someday Brazil will be the tropical paradise home to the most fair and efficient governmental system in the world.

  23. I have a dream that no one on Earth will be hungry another day of their lives. It is up to use, those fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads, to help create a more healthy world. The people who have more then enough to provide for themselves and their families should put forth extra efforts to feed the hungry both foreign and domestic. The rich shouldn't be allowed to bath in money while children in Africa don't know when their next meal will be. It is up to us to create change in the world. Those that are less fortunate should be given excess wealth throughout our world. It is imperative that the children throughout or world will have the chance to eat a meal three times a day. It is my dream that our world will no longer consist of starvation.

  24. Technology is becoming too much a part of everyday life in today’s society, and specifically in the U.S. There are so many great things about modern technology that has helped advance society, but I believe it is also starting to set it back. My dream involves mainly children. When I was a child, I did not play video games or watch television all day or play on the computer during a beautiful sunny day. I think the greatest part of childhood is being outside on a perfect summer night and using your imagination as your fun. I think too many kids nowadays rely too much on technology to have fun at too young an age. My dream is that parents will think more before they give their middle school child an IPhone and encourage them to get outside and just have fun with their friends, no phones, television or computers. Imagination is such an important part of childhood and such and important part of new and innovative ideas. I have a dream that children today will become less dependant on technology.

  25. I have a dream that bullying will become a thing of the past. Throughout grammar school up to my junior year of high school before coming to Berkshire School I was bullied. Being a person that has experienced being bullied for being different than other kids in my town or school I despise it. I can remember being constantly angry or sad because i did not fit in with other kids that were popular. It made me feel alone and depressed most of the time. The act of bullying is disgusting and embarrassing. Bullying is one of the major causes of teen suicides and it is sad hat some people make others feel like that suicide is a solution to their problems. Bullying should be stopped as soon as possible so that people can begin to accept others for who they are.

  26. I have a dream that people with an excess of money can realize that having nice cars, big houses, boats, etc is a great feeling but saving lives is a feeling that is unparalleled and that they they can put their riches toward a bigger and better cause. Nearly 9 million children under the age of five this year will die from hunger related causes (per world hunger.org), a huge 91% of worlds aids is found in Africa's children, and 71% of the kids will die due to their sickness (per dosomething.org). Many other issues that go hand in hand with these two will never be completely solved and disappear, however, we as privileged people can do more to help this cause. Alone in America we spend billions of dollars a year on electronics alone. I have a dream that we, myself included, can humble ourselves one day soon and realize that what we think we need is really what we want as well as realize that a large part of our world is dying from very fixable causes. Though we have many people doing great things for those in horrible situations there are even more of us doing nothing when we can be something. People will never stop dying from starvation, aids, HIV, etc but when people with enough money to help others the number of those deaths can lessen significantly.

I have a dream that no makeup will be needed. I have a dream that the tragic war of looking like a model will be ended on self-acceptance. I have a dream that the two words 'what' and 'if' will be used in the correct terms instead of comparing oneself to another. I have a dream that no one in the world will feel threatened by someone else's style. I have a dream that no judgments will be made by the way you look. I have a dream that the most important thing is your personality, not your physical appearance. I have a dream that a person's skin color will not matter in order to be gorgeous. I have a dream that natural beauty is perfection.

  28. Every day, I wake up to the same routine. Two showers, three meals, dress in nice clothing, sleep in my own bed and never give it any thought. Like most people I imagine, I tend to take all that for granted and just assume that everyone has life that easy, in order to ease my conscience. Now imagine not having one of those comforts I listed. Imagine not having any of them. That’s what it is like to be homeless. Every day on the way to school I pass by a single homeless man in the town a few over from mine. I can’t help but feel ashamed as I drive by wearing shoes worth more than probably all of the man’s possessions combined. And I wonder, how much would it take to change this man’s life?
I have a dream of ending homelessness in the United States of America. In a country with a population of well over a 300 million people it is estimated that nearly 650,000 people are either homeless or in shelters designed for homeless people across the United States. The question is, how much it would really take to transform a homeless man’s life. Assuming that the individual doesn’t enjoy being homeless it is my belief that if you were to give someone the resources to change their life around, they would try their best to do so. They may not skyrocket into what most people would consider a comfortable life, but giving them a place to stay, some food each day, and an opportunity for a job somewhere is all it takes to take someone from the gutter and bring them back to life. The ratio of homeless to non-homeless people in the US is about 1:485. Using that number it’s safe to say that if one out of every 400 citizens went out of their way to open up their homes to a homeless individual, it would be all but wiped out of the entire country. Put into those terms I don’t find the goal completely unrealistic, not in the slightest.

  29. I have a dream that one day my children will grow up in a world that loves and accepts every race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. That human compassion and kindness will overpower the greed and corruption that has poisoned this race. I have a dream that every stereo-type will be defied, proving to the close minded people of the world that you are more than what you look like, believe, or who you choose to love. I have a dream that one day all beings can love one another fully, equally, and unconditionally. That my best friends mom and her partner can go grocery shopping without being told that they were going to burn in hell because they love each other. I have a dream that being a social anomaly will be celebrated, because differences make the world interesting. That I will never hear someone say the word faggot ever again, and that gay will once again mean happy. That people can look at each other and not see, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, social status, financial status, or religious beliefs but rather the happiness and genuine love that is radiating from within. I have a dream that equality in every sense, meaning, and interpretation is no longer a dream, but rather a reality.

  30. I have a dream. I have a dream that hunger will vanish. I have a dream that those who are privileged enough to have, will not waste that which is so precious to the unfortunate. I wish individuals would think twice about taking more than their share, or wasting most of what they have taken. I have a dream that those who are starving are thought of daily and that ideas to help them are put into action. I have a dream, a dream where money for missions to the moon are ranked secondary compared to the issue of child starvation. I have a dream that multi-million dollar corporations will use their power to devote some millions to rice, grain or water, to aid in any possible way. 32. In America there are too many problems to count, but they all derive from the same demon in our society that is inequality. Day in and day out, people judge other humans based off of a single impression. This impression can be a first look at someone, hearing them speak, or even hearing about a certain person from a different individual. We can instantly draw conclusions from such little traits. William Clifford stated, “it is wrong, always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence.” Though this is a strong rationalistic claim, it can be compared to profiling as well. America has taken big steps toward equality for all people but the fight is not close to being over. It will take several generations to solve this problem, but my dream remains that all people will be given equal treatment and opportunity to succeed. If this were to happen in America, it would be a better place. Along the lines of what Mr. Gulatta said, racism is the reason of war and the biggest sin to mankind.

  33. Some people in the world believe that they can toy with the lives of innocent animals for their own enjoyment. I have a dream that all animal abuse will come to an end. We are numb to the fact that animals have lives just as we do; however, because they are unable to defend themselves, abusers feel they can deal with animals in a violent manner, with little to no repercussion. A household pet is abused every fifteen seconds. This fact really made me open my eyes to the issue at hand and made me feel that it is something that should be addressed more aggressively.
A little more than a year ago, my family rescued a three-year-old dog named Ranny. This was a hunting farm, and she did not fit in with this lifestyle. Because of her timid and shy nature, she was abused. Although we were able to save her from this nightmare, she has very little trust for people besides our family. This is a perfect example of why animal abuse must be stopped and action must be taken to find these horrible people.

  34. I have a dream. I have a dream that Vietnamese children will get the kind of education that I’m getting here in Sheffield, Massachusetts. I have a dream that we Vietnamese can actually accomplish something bigger than just getting a good job, owning a villa with a pool and a tennis court, something bigger than just earning a lot of money and travelling around the world, something bigger than going abroad and doing nothing about your own country. I have a dream that Vietnamese care more about the country and think more about how to deal with its problems. It’s not that we are not patriotic. We ARE patriotic. It’s just that some people are too overwhelmed with even the slightest idea of really doing something about Vietnam. We’re in trouble. We’re in trouble not because our economy isn’t as good as that of the United States or Great Britain; we’re in trouble not because a lot of people are dying in poverty; we’re in trouble not because a lot of children don’t even have a chance to go to school; we’re in trouble not because the education system isn’t perfect. We are in trouble. We are in trouble because not everybody is trying to deal with the economy, nor the poverty, nor the education system. Many Vietnamese go to a lot of places and learn a lot about those places, too. But only a small number of people try, or dare to actually do something with our own country. It scares me when I realize how many Vietnamese students go abroad and stay abroad for the rest of their lives (of course in some certain places the living conditions are much better but if everybody is going to stay abroad, who will be in the country? Or in whose heart will the country live?) It scares me when I know I haven’t paid attention to what’s really been going on in Vietnam – I read news everyday; I listen to the radio everyday; I just haven’t paid enough attention. It scares me even more when I realize we have been in peace for decades and we haven’t really achieved anything yet. It’s not that Vietnamese don’t try at all; it’s just that the efforts aren’t enough. And it scares me the most when I, myself, who is writing a little dream of mine, don’t even want to make something really happen in Vietnam, something big, something that will change not only the economy, the education, or the people of Vietnam but also our future for I fear changes to our country. Vietnam has been through so many changes that it's frightening even to think about another one. BUT we have to change! We have to change our own future. I have a dream. I have a dream that we Vietnamese will dedicate our lives and hearts and souls to our country. I have a dream that people will start to really think what it means to be a citizen, what it means to be born in a country called Vietnam, what it means to do something, or even think, about Vietnam and its troubles. I have a dream that this dream, one day, no matter if it takes decades or centuries, one day, this dream can be accomplished, perhaps not by one or two or three or any certain number of Vietnamese people, but by everyone of us. I have a dream.

  35. I had a dream when I was nine years old that in a period not exceeding 8 years Africa will be the continent of prosperity. I had a dream that in about eight years Africa will be full of industries, jobs, schools and hospital .Surprisingly I am now eighteen and still nothing has improved. The economy, death rate, and unemployment have gone from bad to worse. Africa is one if not the richest continent when it comes to natural resources. I then asked myself how is it that Africa is so rich in resources and yet so poor. The conclusion that I came up with is that the African leaders are exploiting the natural resources to their advantage. My dream is to see Africa prosper as a continent. My dream is to see less corruption when it comes to the distribution of resources in Africa. My dream is to see democracy being practiced in Africa. My dream is to see more schools and universities in Africa.

  36. Ever since the dawn of civilization man has been considered equal. This couldn’t be much farther from the truth. The white race has always had a supercilious view on the rest of the races that were born like whites into this world. During the colonial era, there were black slaves, taken from their homes and forced to work for this allegedly superior race. During the gold rush that swept over the west coast and brought an Asian population to America. Were they treated equally? No! Yes they wanted to work in the mines and find gold, but they were treated like dirt. Fast forward to modern day. The condescending aura still lingers in all corners of the world like a plague. I believe that everyone should be known for who they are as an individual and not a mass, labeled by stereotypes and the color of that persons skin.

  37. I have a dream that the people in this earth will soon realize that they need to take more care for each other and the the world itself. That the young and the old people will begin to help each other out, take care of each other and the things around them. Global warming is a real thing and its because of the people that don't care for the earth as they should. There are always the people that do the large things to help change the earth back to good but my dream is for the people at home, I dream for them to do the little things because if many people do the little things to help the earth then it will add up to become big things in which will help out this beautiful earth. The people on this earth take to much advantage of it and this can lead to changes that no one is ready for. The human race also needs to focus on each other, being nice to others will only lead to better and greater things for this earth. Again, its about the little things you can do, helping someone out or just making them smile can change their day. Respect and kindness is something we all look for , so we should always do out best to dish it out too. Everyday there are little things in your life that you can do to help out. Whether its just being kind to someone and helping out or making sure all the lights are turned off before you leave, its just going to add up to better things.

I have a dream that parents will preach to their children to discover their own beliefs.

I have a dream that teachers will abandon their opinions on the drive to school, that activists will declare to their opposers, “I understand”, and that voters will vote for a candidate that’s the best for the job, rather than the party the voters were born into.

I have a dream that friends and family, coworkers and colleagues, classmates and teachers will hold their tongue when the most ignorant, close-minded individuals speak their mind because everyone is entitled to their opinion.

By listening, we can change. We can learn and adapt and understand to a point where close-mindedness is eradicated. I have a dream.

I have a dream that one day women will be loved and accepted for all shapes and sizes; that all women will be able look in the mirror confidently rather than immediately picking out their insecurities. I have a dream that women will take a stand against how they are portrayed by the media, to earn the respect they truly deserve. I have a dream that modeling and magazine industries will discontinue photo-shopping their models and enforce natural beauty instead. I have a dream that we will teach our young girls about their inner beauty, and show them that being beautiful is not simply about cosmetic appearance. I believe that all people are beautiful, both on the inside and out, and it is crucial that everyone believes this as well. I have a dream that there will be an end to the media’s self-destructing images we face on a daily basis, and that it will portray women in a kind and respectful manner.

They together make a world of peace where fear does not exist. I also have a dream that one day South Korea and North Korea become a combined country with the name of Korea. Both South Koreans and North Koreans do not have to miss their families who live across the border line. They do not have to wait for the day of reunion that comes once in a while and can meet their families and friends whenever they want. Without fear of unsuspected wars, we, Koreans, can live peacefully, and men over the age of eighteen do not have to go to an army for two years. I have a dream that one day we play sports in international games, interact with other countries, and develop technology with only one flag, one name, and one heart. I dream that the glorious day will come soon.

  41. My ultimate hope for this world is that we progress to become a world where the general spirit in each person is cooperation, rather than competition. I want to live in a world where all the people have the willingness to learn and grow together, and enjoy together life to its fullest. I dream of a world with open opportunity for everyone. I believe if we as a society strive for this, we will be happier. I have a dream for a world where people value world peace over money, where love is always valued over hatred. I dream for a world where every individual is free. I have a dream of a world where all people find love and joy. Why can we not be a world where the first answer is “Yes and” like in Tina Fey’s rules to improv? I dream of an optimistic society that says “We can.”

  42. I have a dream that all individuals who suffer from mental illness have the opportunity to seek proper help. The mentally ill would not feel isolated or ostracized in this competitive society we live in. Life as we know it can consist of many struggles on a daily basis, and we often forget to put ourselves in the shoes of others. When those that are mentally ill do not feel accepted or comfortable in society they often act out in ways of violence. How can you blame somebody when they have always been treated differently or physically can’t help being unstable? Generally after a tragedy we discover that the person was in some way neglected or mentally ill, therefore my dream is to ensure that these people have the chance to find help before they go to such extremes. I want this not just for those who end up harming others, but also for the people struggling in everyday life that should not feel secluded. That is my dream.

  43. I have a dream that we live in a world where religious toleration is prevalent, where people with different religious beliefs can coexist peacefully. No matter if you’re a Buddhist, a Muslim, a Jew, an atheist or whatever religion you choose to associate with, you will not suffer any kind of prejudice or hatred in any society. I have a dream that we stop fighting wars in the name of religion, we stop radicalizing religion and using religion to justify any violence; because in the end of the day, taking one’s life is equal to robbing one’s chances of living a meaningful life and robbing the happiness of the people who cared about the particular person. I have a dream that we will tolerate those who don’t believe in a deity, those who are willing to label themselves as non-believers. We should show non-believers the same amount of respect as we would show a religious person. I believe that only through an education system where students are encouraged to learn different religions will we be able to achieve tolerance and respect. We should seek the meaning and the message behind a religious text instead of quoting it for word to word. Only through looking at the lens of believers and non-believers will we be able to respect different religions, and someday coexist peacefully together without any bias or hatred amongst each other.

  44. I have a dream that slavery will no longer exist in our society. The use of slavery dates back to the colonial era when African slaves were first brought to Jamestown in 1619 to help with tobacco farming. Today we condemn slavery as inhumane and evil. Today we would never chain people and force them to work in a field all day picking cotton. Yet, today slavery still exists. It exists in an even darker way; young girls and boys are being sold into the sex slave industry. It’s not just foreigners who are victims; many are taken domestically. Sex trafficking occurs when people are forced against their will into committing unimaginable sexual acts, drugs and violence usually coincides. Unfortunately this horrible industry is booming in the United States, right underneath our noses in our own backyard. Sex trafficking is extremely profitable for those in control. It’s estimated to bring in 32 billion a year. The CIA estimates about 50,000 victims are trafficked in the United States annually. We live in the United States of America, “ the land of the free and the home of the brave.” So why is slavery still happening? I have a dream that the sex trafficking industry will be taken down and there will be no more victims of slavery.

This is the same truth that we choose to ignore everyday. We breathe in negativity and blow out the same crap that was given to us. We all do it and there is no way of getting around that. I’m not going to say that I don’t ever put people down, because I do. I try not to though. I am conscious of my mistakes and believe that they were wrong. I have a dream that people will stop living with all the excess, and start giving to the less fortunate. We only hear of some of the wealthiest people giving, but usually we hear about them buying. There are people such as Bill Gates, who has made his 67 billion, but has donated over 28 billion to many charities. Gates doesn’t care about how much he donates, he cares about what it goes to, and he cares about the child mortality rate so every child has a chance to live a full life. Gates has made a impact in many people’s lives and has started to make impacts in other billionaires lives, who are starting to donate to many different charities. I have a dream that if everyone can give to the people something if anything to people less fortunate than them, the world can be a better place.

I have a dream that people around the world would stop being egotistic and would build a strong community where every person would be valued, where everyone would care not only for themselves, but also for people around them. I think that the world we live in right now is a highly competitive one, where only the smartest, the wealthiest and the strongest people succeed. Parents raise their children as self-centered individuals rather than members of a community. However, if it were not for the community, the human race would not have survived for so long. So if we learned to care about each other rather than caring only about ourselves, how different would the world have been right now? I believe that would have been a world where there would be no wars, no political and social crisis. Children wouldn’t have had to grow up without knowing who their parents are. I believe that if everyone did their best to support those around them, if everyone was aware of a fact that there are about 7,000,000,000 other people who are living on this planet right now, I believe that that would be the world we would want ourselves, as well as our children to live in.

As Albert Einstein said, “It would be my greatest sadness to see Zionists (Jews) do to Palestinian Arabs much of what Nazis did to Jews.” This quote struck me, because of how dreadful the thought of another Holocaust would be. 51. We exist in a society that contains an assorted amount struggles. Some may complain about petty mishaps; however, most fail to recognize the harsh, life threatening difficulties others undergo regularly. The troubles overlooked include essentials to survive, such as food and water. I have a dream that safe drinking water will one day be available to all. This is because water is a vital part of simply surviving; however, 783 million people, primarily in Africa, still do not have access to safe drinking water, and it is completely out of their control to consume it. This is the problem at hand because the average person must intake 3 liters of water a day. This statistic proves that people need water; therefore, populations will amount to drinking unsanitary water. Thus, linking to severe diseases and possibly death. Did you know that, 2.5 billion people, including almost one billion children, live without even basic sanitation? Every 20 seconds, a child dies as a result of poor sanitation (http://www.unwater.org/statistics_san.html). This is just flat out wrong and it proves that not only does this water crisis link to drinking, but to sanitation as well. A lack of proper sanitation can cause an outbreak in disease which can also lead to death. It is statistically proven that across the globe, nearly 2,000 children die from diseases directly linked to unsafe water or a lack of basic sanitation facilities (http://www.unicefusa.org/work/water/). These are unnecessary deaths that can be prevented. Wells can be introduced, along with streams that have a flow of water, constantly being purified. This simple necessity should not be problematic for society. This has the potential to change though, but it will not be simple and it will take time. Nothing in life comes easy, but I do believe that if more people consider this matter does not only have to change, but NEEDS to change, there will be positive outcomes.

Athletes and actors like us here at Berkshire are privileged to be given great opportunities to succeed. I have turned on the news too many times to see athletes and actors being arrested for murder, using drugs, raping women, and driving under the influence. Is it that hard to act civilized and be a role model for your countless fans many of whom are kids? Famous people should not be using their money for bail or a lawyer it should be going to hospitals and charities that are in desperate need of money. In our world today there are surveillance cameras and paparazzi everywhere and kids can see all of this. Once people are famous and have gained a lot of money majority of them think they are invincible and that nobody is watching. Around the globe people work multiple jobs and can barely see their families just to make ends meet. It is selfish if you ask me of these famous people to be partying and doing illegal things while the world watches them. I have a dream that one-day people will be grateful and humble for what they have. I have a dream speech

I have a dream that one day all Americans will have access to equal

education, not just those who are the wealthiest. Currently the public education

system is funded by property taxes; thus, wealthier neighborhoods whose property

values are high receive more money for their schools, and have more opportunities

for better education. Education is the great equalizer; it is something that everyone

unanimously agrees upon in its importance. However those of us whose parents

can afford it, spend lots of money to come to elite boarding schools like Berkshire

that have access to the best facilities like The Bellas-Dixon Center and The Jack. The

importance of an education cannot be underestimated; individuals with a bachelor’s

degree are 3.8% more likely to be employed than people who only have a high

school diploma. These individuals who have their bachelor’s degree also earn

$21,528 more per year on average. Is it fair that such an important part of one’s life

is affected so dramatically by uncontrollable factors like where you live or how

much money you have? I have a dream that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic

class, will have the same access to a quality education that Berkshire provides to all

    of us.

  55. I have a dream that humanity will cease to hate. I have a dream, that people can recognize each other, not as different, but as a part of something larger. I have a dream, where people do not distinguish others as separate, but as a part of this world. It is absurd to see people as inferior because of their religion, physical attributes, culture, family status, socioeconomic status, race, sexual orientation, sex, or any other aspect of what makes someone unique. It is a moral crime to think that people are less because of these attributes, but it is even worse to act against them. What is the point of fighting in a war, neglecting someone, calling someone a name, or doing anything to someone expect love them. I have a dream that humanity can live in a world where it is unquestioned to say “hi” while passing someone on the street and offer him or her a smile. It should be a habit to help someone up if they fail. I dream of living in a world where people will look around and see the characteristics of people not as negative differences, but as to what makes someone unique and special. I dream that we can love people because of this uniqueness, because of how they contribute to this world, and make this world a better place.

  56. We live in a world full of hatred. This is a disappointing thing due to the fact that it is completely our fault, because we choose to show this hatred towards other humans. A lot of this hatred comes from people not tolerating other people’s religions. This intolerance sometimes is so extreme, that we fight wars. We are killing our own race, only because we don’t all believe in the same things. I don’t study theology, but I will make an assumption. I don’t think it will make the higher being, that you believe in (if you believe in one), happier if we kill people or force our religion on anyone who has different beliefs. So my dream is that one day, every single religion will be respected! Jews, Muslims, Christians (etc.) are all humans; the only differences between them are their beliefs. By this point in human evolution, we should be able to understand and respect the differences between every individual, but we don’t. So my biggest dream and hope for the world is that some day (hopefully in the near future), we will respect every person and his beliefs.

  57. I have a dream that we as humans will value more of what we have in order to help out those who do not. To be grateful is a moral principle that all people should adhere to. Fortunately, I am a male teenager who studies abroad in a boarding school. This opportunity has widened other aspects of my life in seeking higher education and becoming a better all-round person. I attend school with people from thirty-two states and twenty-eight different countries worldwide. I eat, play sports, hang out and even sleep in the same dorm room with them. This is a rare chance for people from my country. Unfortunately, every day people encounter or witness others who don’t value opportunity and what they have. There are hundreds of thousands of people battling hunger and homelessness worldwide, such as the people in Haiti who’ve had increasing struggles since the devastating earthquake in 2010. Yet, there are even people here at Berkshire School who complain about dorms being grimy or the food being disgusting. Letting irrelevant things consume so much of our thoughts prevent us from noticing the more unfortunate world around us. If people around the world begin to appreciate how fortunate they actually are, they will be more understanding toward others who are less fortunate, and may feel more inclined to help them. This idea can lead to many more people trying to help build schools and hospitals in struggling areas or countries, as Mr. Gulotta’s son and his wife are doing in Africa.

  58. For centuries, humanity has restrained itself through its own doing. Our greatest enemy in the face of discovery and amelioration has in fact been ourselves, constantly inhibiting the great things we might be achieving. I have a dream that one day we can put aside our differences, our squabbling and our greed for self-empowerment, and unite under the pursuit of a greater more advanced and enlightened human race. Only then will we be able to face the problems that not only effect one nation but humanity as a whole, to overcome the challenges and make use of technological abilities we are only just beginning to discover. We as a species need to awaken from our shortsighted visions of dominance over one another, and turn our sights to a cause that will benefit all of mankind. 59. I have a dream that one day the “natural” world around us will be natural once again. I have a dream that one day pollution will stop, and people will begin to realize the damage that they are doing to our planet. There is no reason why people should not care about the environment that we live in. Only when mass damage is already done is any sort of change addressed. No! This change should be attended to before any destruction has been done.
I have a dream that people will work together to realize the risk and reward factors before taking action to anything destroying our world, whether that be gas-powered cars, waste being dumped into a river, or deforestation. I have a dream that people will stop doing these things purely for money, as money is merely a piece of paper. I have a dream that people will come to ignore money and do what is right to their beliefs, and not what will help them succeed as an individual, but as a community. Money rules our world, but that needs to stop now. The “natural” world needs to rule once again as it did for billions of years before. Humans are merely animals, just like every other living being on this Earth, and we should learn to live like and with them once again to stop urbanization, and pollution, and everything else destroying the “natural” in our world. I have a dream that we let the natural world rule once again, and not humans.

I eat three square meals a day, and I am able to walk a few short feet to get food almost any time I want. This is a luxury that most take advantage of. Americans are also blessed. We are given freedoms in our country that not all people in the world have. Unfortunately, not all Americans are given equal opportunities. There are those who are abandoned by there family, those who are too sick to work or those who have no home. These are some of the people who cannot eat three square meals a day. But it does not stop at them. There are people who cannot afford food because they must provide for their children. In America alone, 17.2 million households are food insecure. 61. The world is consumed by lies. Governments keep secrets from their people, and even the peoples lie to one another. Trust can only be found in close families, and even then we see husbands and wives going behind each others' backs. We live in civilizations that are corrupt; where unseen acts are being made and where the peoples’ votes are being slowly lessened in value. Our journalists can write what they want, even if its lies and the punishments have become less enforced. We as people are becoming weak; instead of taking the hard path and telling the truth, we decide to deceive and lie to our educators, friends and family. The government and journalists have set bad examples for the rest of the people. When journalists lie and get away with it unscathed the people see that. When the government keeps information from its citizens and lies about what is truly going on the people see that. Just like a son who looks up to his father; a society looks up to its government and journalists. Setting bad examples makes others repeat those actions. Unfortunately this is the ugly truth, however, nothing is unchangeable.
I have a dream that one day we will be able to trust in one another again.
I have a dream that we as people of mother earth are still dependable, honest, faithful humans.
With trust we can again look at our government and believe that what they say is true.
With trust we can keep our families together and not worry about deception.
Journalists must learn the boundaries; people must understand that everything they hear and read is not true.
The truth must be told and lies should be diminished.
Our government needs to set a good example; our journalists need to think more about the actual story rather than the money.
The people need to be shown a good example just like that father was to his son.
I don’t dream of a perfect world, where everyone is one hundred percent trustworthy, I dream of a world that is more trustworthy.
The world isn’t perfect, there is always evil and lies, but as long as long as you hear this message, it has made you think about the decisions you have made.
Think twice before you lie; think twice before you cheat; think twice before you talk.
I have a dream, a reasonable dream. I have a dream that our world will one day be more trustworthy.

  62. The human body is a wonderful thing. The average adult male is 69.4 inches tall, and weighs an approximate 194.7 pounds. This, in the grand scheme of things, is not very big. What makes this remarkable is that inside of that small place which we call the human body, there are 206 bones, 650 muscles, and hundreds of various organs, each used for completing their own unique task. All of this is then wrapped up under 20 square feet of skin, and there we have it: a human. This is what makes up all of us. And yet, inside of this crowded and chaotic thing that we call the human body, there is still room for forty liters of water. This water makes up a remarkable 57% of the human body. Water does not only fill the empty space that the organs, the bones, and everything else left out. It is those things. The lungs are 83% water. The heart and the brain, 73%. Blood is 83% water, skin 64%, and bone 34%. This water is so important to us, that if one were to lose only 1% of it, they would become thirsty. The word thirsty is merely casual slang for the medical term dehydrated. When 5% is lost, one becomes hot and tired. Their muscles would ache, and they would start to feel dizzy. When 10% is lost, one becomes delirious and disoriented. Their vision blurs and starts to darken. Once 20% of the water in the body is lost, one is more than likely to die. The deprivation of water to the body is a very dangerous thing, and something not to be taken lightly. However, to some people death by a lack of water is an easier solution to a death by the consumption of contaminated water. Typhoid, malaria, cholera, and HIV are all well-known diseases, and are all potentially deadly once ingested into the body. In many third world countries, there are numerous contaminants of these diseases found in community drinking water. While these are all well known to be dangerous diseases, one of the most dangerous and deadly water related diseases is, in fact, something that most of us consider not very dangerous at all: diarrhea. Diarrhea is a very common disease, and is very curable. However, many countries don’t have access to the medications which cure diarrhea, and thus, diarrhea causes an estimated 1.8 million deaths each year. 90% of these deaths, are of children under the age of five. Diarrhea, when not properly treated, is one of the most dangerous diseases.
I have a dream that one day, all those who live on this planet, regardless of who they are or where they are from, will have access to not just water, but to clean water. One-million people, or 15% of the entire world population, do not currently have access to clean drinking water. Water is a necessity for life, and thus it should be every individuals right to have access to it. Water is a natural material placed on this earth for everyone to enjoy, and for everyone to live off of and prosper from. Everyone deserves clean water, and unless the entire world realizes it, than it is a goal that will never be possible.

  63. Water is a human right.

I have a dream that one day, water will be abundant for all mankind. Lamentably, a little over one-fifth of the world’s population suffers from water shortage and a large portion of the rest of the world has to rely on unsafe water sources. While rivers of clean water cross national boundaries, access to water will remain a potential for turmoil. To make things worse, people in some countries have to travel great distances to obtain small amounts of water while other countries can get pure, clean water at ease. As I comprehend this urgent world problem, I realize that life for a lot of people, including me, is a breeze. Life’s necessities like water are easily available, while billions of others around the world go through great tribulations to get water, that of which might not even be safe to drink. In a perfect world, water would be available for everyone. I understand that there is no such thing as a perfect world, but we as humans could do so much more for the less fortunate. I have a dream that one day, water will be bountiful.

  64. I have a dream that there will be no more war. That people will settle their conflicts with debates instead of violence. I hope that one day everyone in the world will be able to walk outside without fearing that they could be caught in a suicide bomb or the crossfire of two opposing armies. That Syria will decide not to continue using chemical weapons on its own people and instead turn to compromising with the rebels. If we stop wasting our money trying to kill people just so they will not kill people. Instead put that money towards helping the sick and impoverished people of the world then we will build a safer place for our children and their children still to come. The total cost of war since 2001 costs 1.471 trillion dollars and counting by the second. We spend approximately one hundred thousand dollars every thirty seconds. That money could easily go to health care, schools, research for diseases, or countless other more beneficial services. War is pointless, it causes death and ruins lives of everyone who it touches, there is nothing beneficial about going to war.
