  1. The intention of the Mayflower Compact was to state that the colony was to be established in Cape Cod, under God, into a "Civil Body Politic" in order to survive and continue on with their lives there, for "the general good of the Colony" and to promise obedience and still be somewhat under kings rule.

  2. The Mayflower Compact explains why and how the people decided to create the "Civic Body Politic" detached from the King. Their intention was to create a new colony detached form the King and British laws, but under God's protection.

I believe the intention of the Mayflower Compact was to notify the King that they will set up a self governing body in Massachusetts that would make their own laws to benefit the people of the settlement rather than the shareholders in England 3000 miles away; all of this under the respectful name of god.

  11. I believe the intentions of the pilgrims upon signing the Mayflower compact were to highlight their remaining loyalty to King James while presenting and notifying him of their disobedience of him and his divine right. Which in my opinion shows their fears of defying his orders and also the pilgrims attempts to avoid as many reprecussions as possible while continuing there own belief that they are acting on God's wishes.

  14. I believe that the Mayflower Compact was written to inform the King of England that the Pilgrims would be settling in Massachusetts rather than Virginia. They needed to let the King know that they would still be loyal to England, however they would be setting up a government that would be better suited for them, especially in regards to their religion.
